DESIGN
Description:
The used concrete building elements are conform the cement bricks used in many countries around the world: l x w x h = 400 x 200 x 200 mm, each with two square holes. It is also possible to build using specially designed relatively cheap building elements, with which very little mortar is needed.
A trackinghouse consists of walls with horizontal and vertical tensioning rods. While the idea of employing tensioning rods for reinforcing building structures is not new, this principle is combined with steel tubes around the vertical tensioning rods and sets of disc springs. In a multi store building the lower walls often carry the whole structure. This results in a pressure build-up in the lower elements. Due to an excess of pressure during an earthquake the building may collapse. In this patented principle of combined pulling rods and pressure pipes the walls of each story of the building are subject to the same controlled amount of pressure. The weight of the building is carried by the steel pipes and directed through these pipes to the foundation. This principle is a patented (low cost) technology for building construction in earthquake sensitive areas.
Patent:
This principe of a low-cost buildmethod in earthquake-sensitive ordenings is in several lands patented.
Special Features:
The technology offer consists of licensing the above described construction method along with many construction details such as for instance: movable lightweight concrete story floors and their mountings.
Applications:
The construction of buildings in earthquake sensitive areas. When there is danger of hurricanes etc.
Calculations:
TNO-Bouw (CRO)(www.tno.nl): FEM-calculations of a wall, loaded by an acceleration. MSE (ir.G.E. Hofman): FEM-calculations of a movable lightweight concrete story floor.
